Guernsey is a self-governing bailiwick with a unique legal and financial system. While a British Crown Dependency, it maintains its own distinct culture and traditions. It's also famous as the place where Victor Hugo lived in exile.

Officially adopted in 1985, the flag is based on the Norman cross. Guernsey was the only British territory occupied by Germany during World War II, and in its recovery, it developed into a unique financial center.
