x-ray
x-ray, 엑스레이
An x-ray is a special kind of picture that lets us see inside the body. It's often used to check for broken bones.
X-rays are taken in hospitals to accurately diagnose injuries or illnesses. They are also frequently used in dental clinics to check the condition of teeth.
X-rays were accidentally discovered in 1895 by Wilhelm Röntgen, a discovery that earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics. His first experiment involved x-raying his wife's hand, and the clear image of her finger bones and ring caused a great sensation.
In modern medicine, more advanced imaging techniques such as CT and MRI are used in addition to conventional x-rays. However, x-rays remain the most useful examination method when a quick and simple diagnosis is needed.
